Integration of electronic patient contacting in health care processes (B2C-PRO)
Electronic information exchange between healthcare service providers and customers have not become common, even if several pilots have taken place. One of the reasons is that a secure and user-friendly technical service solution is still missing. VTT has developed and evaluated new document-based and generic solutions in two Finnwell projects: B2C-MED and B2C-HEALTH. The objective of the follow-on project B2C-PRO is to improve the usability from both customer and service provider point of view. Furthermore, the objective is to integrate the customer service solution with the care process in particular use cases of Jorvi Hospital and North Carelia Central Hospital. The first use case involves patient communication with service provider before an ambulatory surgery. In this case, the customer service platform provided by Itella is used. The second use case addresses communication related to infertility care process. In this use case the PIR document service provided by VTT is used. The project includes also a review on electronic patient services based on a research visit to USA. More information.
Further development of customer's document service (B2C-HEALTH)
This is a follow-up project to B2C-MED. The project will be carried out in 1.10.2005 - 30.9.2006 as a part of the Finnwell technology programme by Tekes. The objective of the B2C-HEALTH project is to provide a seamless document channel between the customer document service and existing health care systems. Also new information models and new ways to carry out health care measurements at home will be developed. More information.
Digital document service for health care customers (B2C-MED)
The PIR concept has been used in the B2C-MED project carried out in 1.10.2004 - 30.9.2005 as part of the Finnwell technology programme by Tekes.. The project aimed at the utilisation of standardised health care documents (HL7/CDA) in B2C applications. Altogehter twelve companies and organisations in the health care and information technology sectors participated the project.
PIR Project
The PIR project was carried out 1.10.2003 - 30.4.2004. The project carried out a user requirements study based on interviews with the participating companies. Based on the indicated needs, preliminary XML document models were defined. These were based on the electronic invoice model (Finvoice) defined by the Finnish Bankers' Association. The preliminary models were used in document delivery tests carried out by VTT and the project participants.
VTT's PIR test environment including the Mailer, Case and Document Server components were used in the test. The project experiences were promising. The concept was considered highly potential for various document delivery needs. It was concluded relevant to continue with subsequent activities involving tests with end-users. The project was participated and financed by: Atkos Oy, Diacor terveyspalvelut Oy, Doctorex Oy, E.ON Finland Oyj, Mehiläinen Oyj, Pohjola Group plc, Finland Post Ltd and Veritas Group.
Also other activities are planned for the exploitation of PIR in different service sectors. Please contact us for more information.
